-Li Xiufang’s report group on advanced deeds

With the improvement of his condition, the headmaster can get out of bed and walk around, and go to every ward and corner every day to have a look. One day, just after we finished the morning care and prepared for the shift, the headmaster pointed out the problems she found, took us to the ward and gave a demonstration on the spot, asking us to avoid the patient being stimulated by strong light when we opened the curtains. To pour water for the patient, put the cup in the patient’s hand; Ward ventilation should be carried out when the patient leaves the ward. After that, the headmaster pointed to a patient and said that her hospital gown was wrinkled and needed to be replaced in time. When I saw a patient with two pillows, she felt them and said to us, "The pillows are too high and so hard. If it takes a long time, the patient will be uncomfortable." With that, she personally took a pillow out from under the patient’s head. At that time, my face turned red. To tell the truth, at first, we didn’t quite understand the headmaster’s practices, and even thought she was a little nagging. Every time we saw her, we were a little nervous, especially afraid that she would find fault with us. It took us a long time to realize her love for patients and her painstaking efforts to train our nurses. Gradually, we are getting closer to her and more willing to accept her teaching. Now, with the headmaster gone, everyone’s hearts are empty. Every shift, we still habitually wait for the first-class principal; Every time I walk past the ward where she lived, I always have to take a look involuntarily. But the headmaster left us forever.

The headmaster is a tireless person, and her mind is devoted to her work. Since 1983, the headmaster has served as the editorial board of five magazines, including Chinese Nursing and People’s Military Medical. Every time the editorial department sends a manuscript, she must read it carefully and revise it. Even when she was seriously ill, she often asked the nurse to help her sit up and laboriously revise the manuscript. Really can’t hold on, let the nurse read it to her and write down her amendments. Wang Xin, director of the nursing department, looked at the headmaster’s weak body. He couldn’t bear it, so he begged the magazine to stop sending her manuscripts without telling the headmaster. The headmaster hasn’t written a manuscript for a long time, and has repeatedly asked us to call to ask questions. Director Wang had no choice but to let the magazine continue to send her manuscripts. After getting the manuscript, the headmaster was as excited as a child and said happily to us, "Look, the magazine has not forgotten me as an editorial board member." The speaker is happy and the listener is sad. Up to now, we have never forgotten this touching scene.

The headmaster always wants us to do something for our nurses just like his own daughter. She often instructs us to combine clinical practice, carefully observe the treatment process, accurately record relevant data, write nursing papers, and review and revise our manuscripts word by word. In June, 1994, nurse Feng Yanmei was assigned to study in Singapore. The headmaster was very happy after hearing this, and called her home, urging her to learn advanced nursing concepts and techniques from abroad and bear fruit in the hospital. In the end, the principal also deliberately stuffed the remaining $50 he had left to visit relatives abroad into Xiaofeng’s pocket. During Xiaofeng’s study abroad, the principal also wrote to her specially to encourage her to cherish the opportunity and achieve something. In 1997, the headmaster won the Nightingale Award and happily gave each of our head nurses a beautiful souvenir, encouraging us to carry forward the Nightingale spirit of "humanity, fraternity and dedication" and jointly pass on the torch of nursing. In 2005, I was named "National Model of Women’s Achievements". The headmaster, who was hospitalized in the ward, immediately called me to congratulate me when he learned the news. As soon as I got back to the department, she gave me a copy of Nursing Management and a photo of her studying in the study, with an inscription and signature, encouraging me to continue to work hard and be a good nursing manager. This is the most satisfying photo of her later years. The headmaster in the photo has a bright eye and looks so amiable. Now, whenever I hold this photo, I can always feel her sincere words and cordial encouragement!

On July 9, 2007, the headmaster left peacefully. She left all her love to us. A few days after the headmaster’s death, the head nurse of our hospital took turns to come to her mourning hall every day to wake her spontaneously and wanted to spend time with her old man’s house at last. The day before the headmaster was buried, we tearfully made a small and exquisite urn for her at the request of her family, and sent some of her ashes to Taiwan Province to accompany her parents. For this urn, we ran from shopping mall to shopping mall, and finally chose a crystal bottle that was crystal clear. When decorating the crystal bottle with a red ribbon, we are just like dressing up for a mother who is away from home. While winding it carefully, we silently call out in our hearts: Principal, mother of a nurse, have a good trip!
