Cohesing the strength of alumni, the first meeting of the second member congress of Tongji University Alumni Association was held, and a new Council was elected.
On the morning of December 18th, the first meeting of the second member congress of Tongji University Alumni Association and the first meeting of the second Council were held in Yifu Building, siping road Campus. Fang Shouen, Party Secretary of Tongji University, Chen Jie, President, Wu Jiang, former Executive Vice President and President of the First Council of Alumni Association, Feng Shenhong, Executive Deputy Secretary of Party Committee, Peng Zhenwei, Vice President and Executive Vice President of Alumni Association, Lei Xinghui and Tong Xiaohua attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Lei Xinghui.
The meeting was held online and offline, with 116 heads of alumni organizations from local, industry/interest and colleges, representatives of alumni in Shanghai, heads of school functional departments, and representatives of winners of "Tongji University pursues outstanding alumni" attending the meeting.
The meeting heard the Report on the Work of the First Board of Directors of Tongji University Alumni Association and the Report on the Work of the First Supervisor of Tongji University Alumni Association, and deliberated and adopted the amendments to the Articles of Association of Tongji University Alumni Association and the Measures for the Administration of the Logo of Tongji University Alumni Association. The meeting elected 104 directors of the second Council of Tongji University Alumni Association, and elected Fang Shouen as president, Lei Xinghui as executive vice president and legal representative, 15 alumni including Wang Yueming as vice president and Lu Yingnan as secretary general. At the meeting, five supervisors of the second Board of Supervisors of Tongji University Alumni Association were elected, and Ji Jianqing was elected as the supervisor.
On behalf of the school, Fang Shouen expressed his heartfelt thanks to the alumni who have long cared for and supported the work of his alma mater and the members of the first board of directors for their hard work, and said that together with the directors of the second alumni association, he would inherit good experiences and good practices, study new ideas and new measures, serve alumni well, promote the construction of the alumni association, run this great relay and live up to everyone’s trust and support. In his speech, he pointed out that alumni should serve alumni well and strive to become a "booster" and a "gas station" to help alumni grow and succeed in their careers; We should serve our alma mater well and strive to become an indispensable and important force for its development; We should serve the society well and strive to fulfill the solemn commitment of Tongji people to serve the society. Looking forward to the work of the new board of directors, he said that on the new journey of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the Alumni Association will adhere to the guidance of Party building, further promote the modernization of corporate governance capacity, fully support the lifelong development of alumni, serve the new round of "double-class" construction of the school with higher quality, actively assume social responsibilities, and build a first-class Alumni Association with Tongji characteristics that is compatible with world-class universities with China characteristics.
Chen Jie gave an introduction to alumni’s recent work, including his understanding of the construction of first-class universities, the recent development results of the school and the blueprint for future development. He said that Tongji University should be a participant in urban development and provide support for Shanghai’s sustainable economic and social development; Be a climber of scientific and technological innovation and set a benchmark for the high-quality development of national science and education; Be a practitioner of Lide Shuren and contribute to the Chinese nation’s great rejuvenation of the Chinese dream.
At the meeting, a flag-raising ceremony for the newly established alumni organization and an award ceremony for outstanding alumni representatives were also held. Fang Shouen awarded the flag to the College of Art and Media, the College of Mechanical and Energy Engineering and the Law School of Tongji University Alumni Association, and Chen Jie awarded the "Outstanding Alumni of Tongji University of the Year" award to two alumni representatives, Huang Zhiming and Zhang Chen.
Subsequently, the first meeting of the second standing Council and the board of supervisors of Tongji University Alumni Association was held. At the meeting, discussions and exchanges were held around the work of the new Standing Council and the Board of Supervisors.
In the afternoon, in the seminar on alumni work, the participants held a heated discussion on topics such as "giving full play to the strength of alumni and participating in the work of Lide Shuren Center in the school", "strengthening the linkage of inter-regional alumni organizations to help regional economic development" and "standardized governance and sustainable development of alumni organizations", and put forward opinions and suggestions.
On the same day, Wujiang visited the 9th issue of "Tongji Alumni Lifelong Learning Platform Starry Lecture Hall" with the theme of "Urban Organic Renewal and Fine Management". He fully analyzed the essence, characteristics, key points and the whole process of urban organic renewal from an academic perspective, and expounded how to carry out refined management from the aspects of planning and design, basic information, engineering technology and management mechanism from a practical perspective to ensure the effective implementation of urban organic renewal. The report was also broadcast live through the official live broadcast platform of Tongji University and the lifelong learning platform of alumni.
